The Annual UMW Picnic was postponed until June 26 at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. All Church women were encouraged to attend the covered dish supper.
Debbie McDermott, V.P., Betty Merring, Education and Interpretation officer, and Carol Conley, Spiritual Growth officer, all attended the Northeastern Jurisdiction UMW Quadrennial meeting. It was held June 14-16 at Hershey Lodge, Hershey, PA. Debbie reported in church during Joys & Concerns time on Sunday, June 17 that it was a very worthwhile experience. Betty said it was the best Jurisdiction meeting she’s been to – she’s been to all of them since 1980.
The Annual Hymn Sing/Spiritual Program is scheduled for Saturday August 11 at Warren Haven Nursing Home in Oxford at 2:00 pm. Marilou Tshudy will accompany us on piano. Those attending will meet at the church at noon to carpool to Top of the Green Restaurant at Apple Mountain Golf Course. Anyone interested in eating at the restaurant, contact Debbie McDermott. We need a count for restaurant reservations. If you don’t wish to eat out, you can still join us to sing at Warren Haven at 2:00 pm.
On Tuesday, August 21 at 7:00 pm there will be a UMW Business meeting for planning Victorian Day (Saturday, September 8) breakfast and lunch sale at the church. Debbie McDermott is hostess.
Our September UMW meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 11. The hostess will be Judy Farmer. The program is Forgiveness presented by Ann Price.
The School of Christian Mission this year will be held at Kean University, Union, NJ, July 20 through July 22. Those interested may contact Debbie McDermott. The diversity, courses and fellowship are a wonderful experience!
Our annual Hymn-Sing at Warren Haven is scheduled for August 11. All are welcome to join us.
The UMW will continue to collect items needed for the women at the Good News Home for Women, Flemington, NJ. Bring your items and put them in the basket provided in the front hall just outside the entrance door of the Fellowship Hall. New sheets & pillowcases, towels, and toiletry items, such as mouthwash, toothpaste, shampoo, etc are needed. Items must not contain any alcohol.
The United Methodist Women are selling individual greeting cards for a $5.00 donation to the UMW. The card includes the appropriate greeting plus states that a gift to mission has been given to the UMW. The money is given to the Skylands District to be used for mission projects. The cards are available for birthdays, congratulations, peace, In the service of Christ on your special day, thank you, thinking of you, and Christmas. They are available for purchase at coffee hour or see Paula Hilliard.
