From the Pastor’s Desk: October 2013

01 Oct

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Have you ever wondered about the history of your church… its beginnings… the past ministers… the changes in the buildings…?? Have you been around long enough to know the answers to some of these questions?
By the way, I was blessed to hear all the wonderful stories of Dorothy Willis, who passed away last month. I learned a lot about her and her memorable milestones while talking with the former pastors and our church leaders. This experience led me to think about our church history and church stories.
To be honest with you, this is my hope and prayer that all of us will participate in the Belvidere United Methodist History sharing experience sometime next year, 2014. This exciting event will give us the opportunity to become more familiar with our wonderful church and its history. We will share food, key events, stories, and memories. Gather your photos, articles, and recollections…wow! More information will follow.

Taking this opportunity, God bless all of the people who make this church a marvelous place to gather for fellowship and worship. God bless former pastors, Pastors ET Holland, Thomas Higgins, Paul Wells, Vicki Brendler, Bill Noll, John Chung and all the men and women who dedicate their entire lives to ministry. To all the volunteers on committees, greeters, 9:45 am church bell-ringer, communion stewards, liturgists, lawn cutters, cooks, bell choir, chimes, choirs, Sunday school teachers, home and hospital visitors, counters, card writers, Christmas carolers, UMW, etc.
This is an amazing place of faith and passion. It is a place where gifted and committed people have come together to serve Christ. To give glory to God. It is a place with a great future…even in challenging times.

I pray the very best of God’s blessings, the grace of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit as we do it together.

In Christ,

Dennis Chung
