Our church family continues to be very generous with their gifts of time, talent, and money.
In regard to our financial status, we have made it through 2014 with bills incurred to date paid in full. This has only been made possible by the faithful and timely giving by our church members, for which we are appreciative and grateful. As we look forward to the colder winter months, we thank each member, in advance, for the continued financial support of our church.
As you know, for the last two years we were unable to pay 100% of our Shared Ministries bill. The wonderful news is that, as of the writing of this article, it appears that this year we will once again be in a position to pay 100% of this bill!
Thanks to the streamlining of copy-making in the church office by our church secretary and the new duplicator, we are able to reduce our budgeted needs in the area of office expenses by $50/month by using a different copier that still would meet the needs of the church.
In an effort to continue to serve the community, we continue with ecumenical activities.
We are still working to improve our church website. This may include the taping of parts of our services in the future.
The council, in an attempt to be fiscally responsible as well as environmentally friendly, is still looking at making the Town Crier available on line in the future with paper copies available to be picked up in the church and mailed to shut-ins and to those out-of- town Town Crier recipients who request it.
BUMC is a friendly, welcoming church and the council supports “Bring a Friend Sundays’ as an opportunity for each member to invite others to join us in worship.
Our church secretary continues to work with our Church Membership secretary and SPRC Chairperson to ensure that our membership listing is current.
Our Chairperson of Trustees and Chairperson of Building and Grounds continue to address the needs of the church building, parsonage, and property. The issue of what will be done to the floor of the rooms and hall in the 1st floor of the education building continue to be studied..
The Bishop’s 3 year initiative, A Future with Hope, has been met with enthusiasm and generosity from our church family. Between Bon-Ton booklet sales, litter pick-ups in White Twshp. and Belvidere, individual monetary gifts, and profit receipts from the Chicken Tender Take-out, we surpassed the goal for 2014 – the first of the three years of this mission project. We have an excellent head-start o the goal for 2015 !
